About

Hi, I’m Traek, the founder and sole operator of Ungatech. I launched this venture in early 2010 after working on a major solar panel factory project and riding the wave of healthcare technology upgrades prompted by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. At the time, small medical practices were scrambling to adopt complex electronic medical record systems designed for large clinics or hospital networks. I saw firsthand how overwhelming and costly that transition could be for smaller organizations — especially those still recovering from the economic downturn.

With a background in IT deployments for Fortune 100 companies, I recognized a better path forward: affordable, user-manageable systems that didn’t require a full-time IT department. That’s why I started Ungatech — to provide what I called “Green IT”: streamlined, sustainable solutions that reduce complexity and cost, all while improving reliability.

Long before it was trendy, I was building private and semi-private cloud systems for small businesses. These solutions delivered enterprise-grade performance and remote management capabilities, allowing practices to focus on patient care — not IT headaches.

Today, I still work directly with local small businesses, particularly in healthcare and other sectors with complex IT needs but limited resources. If you’re trying to make modern tech work in a real-world environment — without a massive IT team — that’s where I come in.

But I’m in IT!

Even better. I don’t replace IT professionals — I support them. If you already have a department or serve as the go-to tech person in your organization, I can help you offload routine maintenance, break-fix issues, and vendor back-and-forth. That frees you up to focus on process improvement, training, testing, and developing new initiatives that actually move the needle.

Let’s collaborate to build custom tools and solutions so you can spend more time innovating — and less time putting out fires.

What Does “Unga” Mean?

The name Unga (pronounced OON-guh) comes from Swahili roots that refer to connection, gathering, and leveraging collective strength. That’s the heart of my mission: helping small businesses tap into shared technology infrastructure so they can access the kind of robust tools usually reserved for much larger organizations.

By consolidating resources and connecting systems in smart, efficient ways, I aim to help clients “plug in to the planet” — and benefit from the computing, storage, and bandwidth that’s too often left unused.

What is Green Technology?

To me, Green Technology isn’t just about energy efficiency or carbon footprints — though those matter too. It’s about sustainability in the broader sense: designing IT systems that are affordable, resilient, and long-lasting.

When technology is simpler to maintain, easier to scale, and more cost-effective over time, it’s better for both the environment and the economy. That’s the kind of balance I strive for — helping small businesses thrive while making smarter, greener technology choices for the long haul.
